Human Safety Systems is a leader in the hazard management and safety compliance industry. They are specialists in the situational awareness and dynamic risk assessment fields.
HSS wanted the new website to:
Human Safety Systems approached Get Started to rebuild their site with these objectives in mind. Get Started suggested the Kentico content management system for its ease of use, quick implementation and value for money.
The ability to structure document types was key for presenting HSS's PDF resources and events. Get Started configured the CMS so HSS can add new PDF resources or events by filling out a form in the CMS. The live Resources and Events pages draw out the data from these forms and apply pre-set styles so the PDFs display with consistent formatting. Easy adding via forms and automatic formatting make it easy for Human Safety Systems to keep the Resources and Events pages fresh.
The new HSS site is geared towards an academic-level audience and provides up-to-date, relevant information on safety in the workplace. For the design, the site had to look clean, convey a professional vibe and make it easy to find information. Get Started took these ideas and created a design for the site that is mainly white with a lot of empty space (to achieve the 'clean' effect) with highlights of red (to echo Human Safety Systems' branding). Get Started and HSS worked together on the information architecture to make the text content approachable and easy to read in a web browser. Page structure was determined with the user in mind, and this combined with clear mouse-over and selected menu option effects make navigation simple for visitors. The home page features a resources highlight area, which quickly directs new visitors to the most popular area of the site.
